2015 GRANTEES
Family Health Centers CHEERS funds will support the purchase of a colposcope for the full-scope cervical cancer screening program for the women in the Diamond Neighborhoods of Family Health Center in Southeast San Diego.
4Bone Health CHEERS funds will be used for the continuation and expansion of the teen-to-teen bone health program created by High Tech High students, who initiated the challenge of "Bone Break Day" to increase awareness of the short-term and long-term consequences of bone health. The goal is to create a "turn key" resource for any school or group to utilize their own Bone Break Day, focusing on bone health.
Salk Institute for Biological Studies CHEERS funds will be used to support ground-breaking research that directly impacts women’s health, in such areas as heart disease, brain disease, diabetes, and cancer. Amid growing signs that gender bias has affected research outcomes and damaged women's health, there’s a new push to make science more relevant to them. We are delighted to partner with The Salk Institute in this endeavor.
Sharp Healthcare Foundation / Mary Birch Hospital CHEERS funds will be used for improvements in the Sharp Mary Birch Neonatal Intensive Care Unit's private Lactation Lounge for mothers of pre-mature newborns receiving care in the NICU. The Lactation Lounge offers a private respite for these mothers who seek to find serenity in a stressful time of their lives to pump and provide breast milk to their babies.
